Our Story

Pioneering Therapeutic Apheresis Since 1985

Four decades of clinical innovation, one mission: to transform lives through the science of blood purification.

“The plasma carries the story of aging and disease. When we exchange it, we give the body a chance to rewrite that story.”

Dr. Dobri Kiprov, M.D.

Philosophy

Medicine the Way It Should Be

A practice built on principle, not volume.

At Global Apheresis, we believe that every patient deserves a physician who takes the time to understand not just their diagnosis, but their life. Therapeutic apheresis is a powerful tool — but it is only as good as the clinical judgment behind it.

We founded this practice on a simple principle: do right by the patient. That means honest conversations about what the evidence shows and where it is still evolving. It means personalized protocols, not one-size-fits-all treatment plans. And it means measuring outcomes, not just administering procedures.

Dr. Dobri Kiprov
Founder & Chief Medical Officer

Dobri Kiprov, M.D., H.P.

Dr. Kiprov's path to therapeutic apheresis began at Harvard's Massachusetts General Hospital, where he completed a fellowship in Clinical Immunology and Immunopathology under an NIH-sponsored program. It was there that he recognized the untapped potential of plasma exchange — not just as an emergency intervention, but as a deliberate therapeutic tool.

He became the first physician in the United States to pass the Hemapheresis Practitioner exam administered by the ASCP, and went on to help establish the field's foundational institutions — co-founding both the American Society for Apheresis and the Journal of Clinical Apheresis.

His career spans more than four decades and multiple ventures. He served as Chief of the Division of Immunotherapy at California Pacific Medical Center, where he now holds the title of Emeritus. He built Bay Area Mobile Apheresis into the first mobile therapeutic plasma exchange program in the country, scaling it from 250 to 2,000 procedures per year before selling the company. He went on to establish the Center for Apheresis and Immunology, and has overseen more than 15,000 treatments and authored over 100 peer-reviewed publications across his career.

In 2021, he founded Global Apheresis to bring therapeutic plasma exchange directly to patients in an outpatient setting — making a hospital-based procedure accessible, personalized, and focused entirely on outcomes. He continues to advance the science of therapeutic apheresis through clinical research and physician education.

Dr. Allen P. Green
Associate Medical Director

Allen P. Green, M.D.

Dr. Green came to apheresis through clinical pathology and transfusion medicine, training at UT Southwestern Medical Center under Dr. Ravi Sarode — one of the country's leading authorities in the field. That foundation gave him both the technical precision and the scientific rigor that define his approach to patient care.

A veteran of the United States Air Force, Dr. Green went on to build and scale a longevity-focused apheresis practice in Dallas, establishing TPE protocols for Alzheimer's disease and cognitive enhancement. Within its first year, the practice was performing 50 procedures per month — an uncommon volume for an outpatient setting. He has personally performed over 500 therapeutic plasma exchange procedures.

At Global Apheresis, Dr. Green serves as Associate Medical Director, overseeing clinical operations, affiliate partnerships, and the training of physicians nationwide. He brings a rare combination of hands-on clinical experience and operational expertise to every aspect of the practice.

What Makes Us Different

A Depth of Experience
Beyond Compare

The nation's leading outpatient apheresis practice.

Global Apheresis is one of the only outpatient practices in the United States dedicated exclusively to therapeutic apheresis. While most patients encounter this procedure only in hospital settings — often as a last resort — we have spent decades making it accessible, safe, and effective in an outpatient environment.

Our physicians have performed more procedures, published more research, and trained more practitioners in this field than virtually anyone in the country. When you come to us, you are not receiving care from someone who offers apheresis as one of many services. This is all we do, and we do it at the highest level.
